Blood Tests | Lab

Blood work in north Houston: CBC, glucose, A1C, cholesterol, thyroid, liver and kidney panels. Every value explained in plain Spanish or English.

Blood work shows what's going on with your blood sugar, cholesterol, kidneys or thyroid long before you'd feel anything. At Clínica Hispana Cruz 2 we draw the sample right here, for a routine checkup, to follow a condition you already have or to meet a requirement.

Which tests can you get?

  • CBC, which counts the red cells, white cells and platelets in your blood
  • Blood chemistry with glucose, cholesterol and triglycerides
  • Hemoglobin A1C if you have diabetes or are at risk for it
  • Liver and kidney function tests
  • Thyroid panel

Do I need to fast?

It depends on what's being measured. Fasting glucose and a lipid panel are more reliable if you haven't eaten anything since the night before; plain water is fine. A CBC or thyroid panel usually doesn't call for fasting. If you're not sure what you're getting, give us a call and we'll tell you how to come in prepared. Keep taking your regular medicines unless we tell you otherwise.

What is the blood draw like?

One needle stick in the arm, with new single-use supplies, is usually enough to fill the tubes for several tests at once. If needles make you lightheaded, let us know and you can lie down for the draw. Afterward, just press on the cotton for a few minutes and skip heavy lifting with that arm for the rest of the day.

Who goes over your results?

Results come back fast, and the medical team walks you through them one value at a time: what's in range, what's worth repeating and what it means for your treatment. If something comes back off, the next step might be a visit for diabetes, blood pressure or cholesterol care or a thyroid evaluation. We give you the price of each test or package before your visit, and you can pay with cash, debit or credit, no insurance needed.

When can I come in for a blood draw?

Draws are done at 13331 Kuykendahl Rd Ste 128, Houston, TX 77090, close to Champions and Willowbrook. Since we open at 9 AM every day, you can come in fasting first thing, then grab breakfast on your way to work.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. If you don't bring an order, the medical team asks about your symptoms, your history and why you want the checkup, then recommends the tests that make sense for you, so you don't pay for labs you don't need.

A first adult checkup usually includes a CBC, a chemistry panel with glucose and cholesterol, and kidney and liver function. The medical team adjusts the list for your age, weight and family history, such as diabetes or high blood pressure.

Better not. Coffee, even black, and juice can shift your glucose and triglyceride numbers. Plain water is fine, and staying hydrated actually makes the vein easier to find during the draw.
