Allergy Testing & Treatment

Allergies to pollen, dust, mold and pets: evaluation and treatment for nose, eyes and skin in north Houston. Walk-ins welcome, Spanish spoken.

In Houston, allergies barely let up: tree pollen arrives in late winter, grass pollen in spring and summer, and ragweed in the fall. Add to that the mold humidity leaves behind, dust mites and pet dander. At Clínica Hispana Cruz 2 we help you pin down what triggers your symptoms and keep them under control, with clear explanations in Spanish.

Symptoms we treat

  • Sneezing, itching and a clear runny nose
  • Red, watery or itchy eyes
  • Congestion that keeps you up at night
  • Hives, welts or itchy skin
  • Wheezing or a cough that shows up when sweeping, dusting or going out on pollen days
  • Mild reactions to foods or insect stings

How we evaluate you

The medical team asks when your symptoms start, where they feel worse and what brings relief. They examine your nose, throat, ears, skin and lungs to tell an allergy apart from an infection or a cold that drags on. If a specific allergy test is needed, we guide the referral to a specialist.

Treatment that fits you

Depending on the case, we prescribe antihistamines, nasal sprays, eye drops or skin creams. We also give you a simple plan to lower exposure: keep windows shut on high-pollen days, wash bedding in hot water and control humidity in the bathroom and kitchen. If medication is prescribed, the e-prescription goes to the pharmacy you prefer.

When allergies get complicated

Weeks of congestion can turn into sinusitis, and a wheezy cough may be asthma. If that sounds like you, we also check for the respiratory illnesses that may be involved. If you notice swelling of the lips or tongue, trouble breathing or dizziness after eating something or being stung, call 911: it may be a severe reaction.

Frequently Asked Questions

A cold usually lasts one or two weeks and can bring fever or body aches. Allergies don't cause fever, come back in certain seasons or places and almost always make your nose and eyes itch. If you're unsure, an exam will clear it up.

Many can be used through long seasons, but some cause drowsiness and not all are right if you have other conditions or take other medicines. At the visit we tell you which one suits you and how to take it.

Yes, we care for the whole family. With children we also check whether congestion or cough is linked to asthma, and the medicine dose is based on their age and weight.
