Pregnancy Testing & Confirmation

In-clinic pregnancy test with results at your visit and guidance on next steps. North Houston, walk-ins welcome, private and in Spanish.

Waiting days for your period, waking up queasy or squinting at a barely visible line on a home test? Wanting a sure answer is normal. At Clínica Hispana Cruz 2 we confirm pregnancy with an in-clinic test and walk you through what comes next, calmly and in Spanish.

How it's done

The test looks for hCG, a hormone the body starts making once a pregnancy begins. We use a urine sample, and you get the result at the same visit. If it's unclear, the medical team may order a blood test to measure the hormone.

When to take it

Wait until your period is at least a day overdue for the most trustworthy reading. Testing earlier, the hormone may still be too low and show negative even if you are pregnant. First-morning urine tends to be the most concentrated.

If it's positive

  • We estimate how many weeks along you are from your last period
  • We review the medicines you take and tell you which ones to stop
  • We recommend folic acid and care for these early weeks
  • If needed, an ultrasound is ordered to confirm how far along you are
  • We point you toward starting prenatal care

If it's negative

If your period still hasn't come in a week, test again or come back. A late period can also come from stress, weight changes, thyroid problems or polycystic ovaries, and it's worth checking. If you're not looking to get pregnant right now, we can talk about birth control.

Signs that call for the ER

Severe pain on one side of the belly, heavy bleeding or fainting with a positive test need urgent care, since they can point to a pregnancy outside the uterus.

Frequently Asked Questions

Both detect the same hormone. The advantage of testing here is that the medical team reads the result with you, reviews your symptoms and tells you what to do next.

Yes. Your result is private and we only discuss it with you. You can come alone or with whoever you choose.

Light spotting can happen early on, but it should be checked. Come to the clinic to be evaluated; if bleeding is heavy or the pain is strong, go to the ER.
